People on Trains and in Stations Risk Group
Self-evacuation
Passengers are more likely to self-evacuate when on a stranded train, recent incidents show. One such incident is the track incursion at Hayes and Harlington, which was caused by a short-notice platform alteration. The People on Trains and in Stations Risk Group (PTSRG) will work with its subgroups to curb unmanaged train evacuations. It is also encouraging industry to prioritise passenger safety and convenience by ensuring lessons learned from such incidents are disseminated.
Slips, trips and falls
More needs to be done to reduce the risk of slips, trips and falls. PTSRG will work with the Passenger Operators Safety Forum to bring down the numbers. They’ll draw on their collective expertise and resources, as well as identify good practice.
Platform-train interface workshop
The 2015 Platform-Train Interface Strategy needs to be refreshed so it aligns with current industry standards and the post-Covid environment. A gap analysis workshop will be held, bringing together industry experts. This forms part of plans to develop a concise strategy that addresses emerging industry challenges and harnesses new technologies.
