Farewell to Ali Chegini
RSSB bids goodbye to Director of System, Safety and Health
Already an award-winning Chartered Engineer with 30 years of railway systems and engineering experience, Ali joined us in February 2019 and has since made significant contributions to our organisation and the wider industry. His work has moved RSSB to a position of excellence in safety leadership within rail and levelled up our consultancy offering on health and safety (H&S) issues.
Ali’s achievements at RSSB include supporting rail transformation by assuring safety while reform is adopted, the significant strides made in applying data interrogation to safety solutions (and development of this capability within the SSH team), and establishing public health as a core RSSB activity. Ali has improved performance across the network using tools such as PRIMA, simplified the Safety Management Intelligence System to futureproof H&S data flow, and acted as the authoritative and credible voice of H&S within the rail sector.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ali for his contributions to RSSB, and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours. His leadership and expertise will be missed, though we know he will continue to make a positive impact in the industry.
We're very pleased that Chris Knowles will be taking over as the new Director of System Safety and Health. Chris Knowles, is currently working at RSSB as Professional Head of Asset Integrity, LHSBR Delivery. The February 2024 issue of Horizon will include an article about him and his new role.
