Last month, RSSB’s Chief Operating Officer Johnny Schute gave members a comprehensive overview of our business plan for 2024–2025 and set out some key focus areas for the year. This plan comprises several ambitious but essential goals for RSSB―goals that will allow us to continue delivering meaningful work that benefits the whole rail industry.
Our specific plans for the year ahead are now beginning to take shape. In particular, our focus will be on reducing costs and improving performance. RSSB’s broad spectrum of capability, coupled with valuable insight from our members across the sector, can leverage the synergies between our business areas and help drive that sector-wide improvement.
For example, the business plan covers a very wide breadth of initiatives that complement our strategic objectives, including but not limited to:
upgrading the Signal Overrun Risk Evaluation and Assessment Tool to drive down SPADs
creating a consolidated platform-train interface risk bowtie to improve passenger safety
embedding the Sustainable Rail Blueprint across railway undertakings to cut harmful emissions.
We’re now in a period of consultation with industry. We consult with you each year to gauge your level of support and help us refine our plans ahead of publishing them. Seeking your thoughts and understanding your needs allows us to deliver work that genuinely adds value to your business and brings improvements to the whole industry.
