Welcome to International RSSB
Thanks for your interest in GB Rail’s Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB).
It’s better to have experience on your side when introducing better working methods or new thinking to an organisation or industry . It gives you the practical know-how that’s vital for identifying problems. It helps keep projects on track, on budget and on time. And when it comes to key factors like rail safety, the right expertise can be a matter of life or death.
But this expertise can be hard to track down. It may not even exist within your organisation.
That’s where we can help. RSSB is the independent safety, standards and research body for Great Britain’s rail network. That’s one of the safest in the world. For over two decades, we’ve contributed to rail safety. We do this by leading and co-ordinating the research, expertise, standards and analysis that lead improvements. And we want to share this knowledge as widely as possible.
The global rail industry is becoming increasingly dynamic. New players are continuously appearing. That’s why we also export our insight. We work with dozens of organisations around the world. We offer support with a variety of rail health, safety, sustainability and operational matters.
RSSB offers international organisations three flexible ways to access our knowledge:
Become an Affiliate: get ongoing use of our resources
Engage our Consultancy services: work with our experts on a project-by-project basis
Sign up for expert Training programmes: RSSB courses are tailored to the specific needs of rail
Or you can do all three at preferential rates.
We give companies around the world access to 20 years of continuous safety improvement. It’s another way we support safer, smarter rail.
Read on to find out more about what we do, and how you could be part of it.
Mark PhillipsChief Executive, RSSB
RSSB has become one of the world’s go-to sources for technical knowledge of rail safety. Formed in response to the tragic Ladbroke Grove rail crash in 1999, we’ve been supporting the GB rail industry for more than 20 years. This gives us a wealth of insight.
We’re home to some of rail’s leading experts on technical matters, and proudly impartial. That means we’re guided by our data and analysis rather than any other concerns.
It’s our role to address any knowledge gaps across the industry. We codify and share rail’s best practice – not just at home, but around the world. We work collaboratively with rail as it evolves. We do this to ensure innovative, sustainable technology is used safely, efficiently and cost-effectively.
