The Health and Wellbeing Data Hub
A data-led, evidence-based approach to support the industry’s vision to manage health and well-being on a par with safety
The Health and Wellbeing Data Hub is a performance management system. It was designed for rail companies to promote industry learning and share good practice on health and wellbeing, centralising learning with improved data processing and automation.
The data collected under the pilot (T1259) covered 20 KPIs. Those included:
sickness absence
COVID
health surveillance
Employee Assistance Programme
drug and alcohol testing
demographics.
Seven of these were combined to form the Health and Wellbeing Index (HWI) on the system. The HWI is a novel composite metric. It lets companies compare their health performance directly with their safety performance measured using Fatalities and Weighted Injuries (FWI).
Capturing consistent data with the right metrics can drive decisions needed to prioritise investments. And ultimately, it can improve the workforce’s health and well-being.
