Public Behaviour Groups

The Trespass and Suicide Prevention Strategy Group (TreSP SG) leads industry efforts to reduce trespass and suicide on the UK rail network. It provides strategic oversight and direction for collaborative efforts that enhance public and staff safety by minimising these incidents.
The group monitors these activities, identifies new deterrents, highlights emerging issues, and promotes best practices across the industry. A sub-group, The Trespass and Suicide Prevention Working Group (TreSP WG) supports the delivery of the work plans.

Both trespass and suicide are key risk areas which demand industry’s utmost attention. It is our collective responsibility to work together to eliminate suicide and trespass incidents on Britain’s railway. Through TreSP SG, we have the opportunity to help save lives, prevent tragedies, and create a safer environment for all.

Work-related Violence
Tackling verbal and physical abuse towards all customer-facing frontline rail employees
Rail Delivery Group and Network Rail jointly lead the Industry Work-related Violence Group, a collaborative forum that brings together all TOCs, BTP, the RSSB, the DfT, Trade Unions, TFL, and other key stakeholders. The group is committed to driving meaningful change across the rail industry in how we address and prevent abuse and violence directed at frontline rail staff.
Looking ahead, the group aims to build on this foundation by focusing on these six strategic priorities.
Support: Promoting and cultivating mental health and wellbeing support.
Operational Technology: Leveraging appropriate technology for better incident management.
Public Awareness: Improving public perception and awareness.
Collaboration: Enhancing stakeholder collaboration and integrating best practice from other industries.
Stronger Policy: Advocating for legislative and policy improvements.
Industry Knowledge: Strengthening data collection and analysis.
Our vision is that all railway employees are protected from verbal and physical threats or abuse at work. We must take a collaborative, unified and whole lifecycle approach to effectively reduce violence in the workplace, protect our current and future rail workforce and help them to deliver the excellent customer service we aspire to.
