Strategy Governance Groups
The RHSS Executive Advisory Group (REAG) ensures the RSSB Board has full visibility of the implementation of the RHSS. The group also acts on behalf of the RSSB Board in providing assurance that the strategy is being delivered and achieving the intended outcomes.
REAG plays a key role in the delivery of the RHSS by supporting and advising the safety and health governance groups. The governance groups in turn promote collaboration on the health and safety issues described in the strategy.
The governance groups supported by REAG are:
Rail Wellbeing Alliance (RWA)
System Safety Risk Group (SSRG)

The Rail Wellbeing Alliance (RWA) is the governance group accountable for the health and wellbeing element of the strategy, including public health.
Supporting this mission are three subgroups:
Fatigue Coordination Group (see Occupational Health and Safety risk area for details)
Health and Wellbeing Action Group
Occupational Health and Hygiene Advisory Group
The RWA and its subgroups coordinate a variety of health activities across the industry, so that legal requirements, cost benefits, and better health provision within organisations can be universally achieved.
We, the people of the railway, made changes happen. We worked together to set in motion a cultural change that is still developing now. It’s time we took that same spirit, drive, and determination and do the same for health and happiness.

SSRG brings together all of the safety risk group chairs and industry experts, to ensure risks at interfaces are considered and opportunities to collaborate across risk areas are identified.
The subgroups that report to SSRG are:
Asset Integrity Group
Infrastructure Safety Leadership Group
Level Crossing Strategy Group
National Freight Safety Group
People on Trains and Stations Risk Group
Road Risk Group
Train Accident Risk Group
Trespass and Suicide Prevention Group
Work Related Violence Strategy Group
Rail Investigation Group
Human Factors Integration Group
RHSS Editorial Board
RHSS sets out a clear direction for health and safety management, focusing on risk initiatives that can reduce overall harm. We support the specialist safety risk groups that monitor the risks and capabilities set out in the strategy. We also monitor and review the strategy, reflecting on industry progress, building on the work of the risk groups, and ensuring industry collaboration continues to mature.
