RSSB will continue to support the sector and its members over the next five years. We will keep providing an independent voice built on expertise, evidence, and analysis, to help the sector grasp opportunities and rise to emerging challenges.
Our strategic approach will continue to reinforce the key role RSSB plays in helping the sector make collective decisions and embed change while exploring new areas of knowledge and capability.
We will maintain our five strategic objectives and six strategic business areas and embrace digital transformation across the entire business. New for 2024-29 are six strategic multipliers where we combine our expertise across RSSB to provide the best technical support industry needs on its highest priority issues.
These strategic multipliers will underpin future and potentially unforeseen change. The three key messages to take from the aspirations of rail reform and the rail industry’s recent experience are a renewed focus on:
1) better sharing, use, and assessment of data, gaining insights to improve all aspects of the railway system
2) continued and, where possible, enhanced collaboration, leveraging synergies across organisational, regional, and contractual interfaces
3) ensuring the rail industry is one of the means through which Britain delivers financial, social, and environmental sustainability.
RSSB’s approach and its six strategic multipliers build on these three principles and highlight how the organisation supports the rail industry’s highest priorities, above and beyond its existing and ongoing needs. RSSB is the only organisation in the railway industry which has a unique combination of technical capabilities to support these cross-functional strategic multipliers.
