Statement from the V/TE SIC Chair
I’m pleased to present V/TE SIC’s annual report, which highlights some of the achievements of the past 12 months.
Last year, we had the opportunity to advance two significant projects: smart traction systems and the optimisation of battery train interfaces. These efforts highlighted the importance of improving the industry’s understanding of rolling stock characteristics, which is essential for maximising the capability of existing infrastructure.
Currently, we are working on a research project on rolling stock power draw. This will enable the Energy Standards Committee to update standards based on informed insights, fostering an environment of collaboration and evidence-based decisions rather than relying on assumptions.
